• Is PrizMAG effective only for promoting sleep and stress or will it help other symptoms of magnesium deficiency?
• Only 80mg of magnesium bisglycinate in PrizMAG capsules seems very low? Other brands seem to have higher doses of elemental magnesium in their capsules.
PrizMAG is pure magnesium bisglycinate, whereas PrizMAG+ is the same compound to which vitamins D3 and K2 have been added. The combination of magnesium, vitamin D3, and vitamin K2 works synergistically in PrizMAG+, to ensure optimal assimilation of these essential nutrients and calcium in the body. For more information, read “Magnesium and Vitamins for Healthy Bones" Understanding Cofactors.”
Yes, both our formulas PrizMAG and PrizMAG+ are vegan like all our other products. For more information, please see: “Product Purity.”
PrizMAG is magnesium bisglycinate, a compound that consists of one magnesium molecule and two glycine amino acids. Both magnesium and glycine have sleep-inducing properties, and when combined they create a powerhouse for a great night’s sleep. PrizMAG helps you fall asleep faster; it also helps you stay asleep and wake up feeling more rested. For more information, please read “Magnesium and Sleep.”
Magnesium bisglycinate (PrizMAG) is much gentler on the bowels than other forms of magnesium. It remains intact as it passes through the gastrointestinal system. However, if you are over-consuming any form of magnesium, it is important to note that the excess mineral will be eliminated by your body which may cause loose stools.
Is PrizMAG effective only for promoting sleep and stress or will it help other symptoms of magnesium deficiency?
PrizMAG or magnesium bisglycinate is a pure, highly absorbable form of magnesium and works wonders for relieving any symptom of magnesium deficiency you may be experiencing. It is often recommended for sleep disorders and stress as the addition of glycine amino acids makes it especially effective for these conditions. (For more information please read “Magnesium and Sleep.”) To find out which form of magnesium is best suited for your symptoms, see our article: “Which form of magnesium is best?”
Yes, PrizMAG and PrizMAG+ are both safe for pregnancy. Magnesium helps ensure a safe pregnancy and has numerous benefits for both the mother and the developing foetus. For more information, see “Magnesium Magic for your Pregnancy."
After extensive research on capsules, we found pullulan to be the purest capsule available. It is vegan, water-soluble and is made from fermented tapioca. Because it is totally natural, we prefer it over hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) capsule, which is a propylene glycol ether of methylcellulose — essentially a plastic. For more information about pullulan, see our Product Purity FAQ: “What is pullulan and why do you use it?”
We realize that everyone’s needs for magnesium differ, so we provide a general guideline on our bottles. We recommend that you try changing the doses till you find one that works for you. Some of our customers take four capsules daily, some take as many as six capsules before bed. Factors such as amount of exercise, mental stress, extreme temperatures, fluoride, prescription medication, trauma, alcohol, poor eating habits, etc impact the rate of burn of the magnesium reserves in your body. These factors vary from one individual to another, which is why there is a wide variance in individual’s need for magnesium. One capsule of PrizMAG contains 80mg of elemental magnesium, so if you take four capsules, you will get 320mg of magnesium — close to the European RDA of 375mg of magnesium daily.

We use a 00-size capsule and that can only accommodate 80mg of magnesium bisglycinate. In many supplements, magnesium bisglycinate is buffered with magnesium oxide (which has an extremely low absorption rate of 4%). So, while they might claim to have more magnesium in the capsule, it might not be the kind that can be readily absorbed by your body. It is a complicated issue! For more information read the article, “Magnesium Bisglycinate – What you Need to Know.”
Fillers ease the manufacturing process and so are preferred by supplement companies. However, via research, we have found ways to avoid this. Optimal health is our end goal, for that purity is of utmost importance, hence we avoid adding fillers. See “No Additives” for more information.
